Box breathing · five minutes
Choose a world to breathe in.
How it works
Breathe in, hold, breathe out, hold – each for the same few seconds, like walking once around the four sides of a square. The even count gives the mind one quiet thing to follow. syne takes you through five minutes of it.
Breathe gently and never strain. If you feel light-headed, let go of the count and return to your normal breath.
Four worlds, each with its own colours, its own form and, soon, its own music. Tap one to begin.
Drag up or down to set how long you breathe in and out, sideways for the holds – one dot is one second. 4 · 4 · 4 · 4 is a good start; go longer as it gets easy. Then tap play.
The form gathers as you breathe in, rests while you hold, and drifts apart as you breathe out. The four dots show the phase; a small dot travels on to the next one. Tap the form for another shape, swipe up or down for other colours of the world.
At the start the controls show for a moment, then fold into a small handle – tap it to bring them back. Turn the breathing guide and the sound on or off; on Android a gentle vibration marks each phase, so you can breathe with your eyes closed.
Your last breath is finished, then sound and form fade into stillness. Breathe again, or go back to the worlds.
Every world holds sixteen fields – fixed variations with their own colours, form and pace, sixty-four in all. Each exists once, as an NFT on Alephium. To collect one, connect your Alephium wallet: the browser extension, or the app on your phone. For now this runs on the testnet, where ALPH has no value.
